DOING THE DISHES

Get out the dish soap
Please pass me a towel
I’ll stand by my mother
And talk for a while
It’s not about cleaning
The dinner dishes
It’s more about discussing
Our hopes and our wishes
We often take a nice, long stroll
Down good old memory lane
Sometimes the pieces are vague and limited
But I love it just the same
We dissect the daily news
We bitch, we moan, we laugh
I know I’m a very young lady
For it’s been a lovely path
To those of you out there that rely on a machine
On a random night, just give it a rest
Spend quality time with a loved one instead
Just trust me, it’s truly the best!
